Resumed last prep off 93 days and went forward to 3r’ early on a very fast tempo at Moonee Valley running 2d to Stoli Boli who swooped late beaten 2L. Figures from that race were high quality. Maps well forward here for D Lane off an excellent trial and looks winner.

R2 n1 GIN SPIRIT Back wider on map. 4th up off 14 days back to 1000m (-50m). Last start Listed Morphettville was slow out and got back off MF 5L off leader on a fast tempo and was then checked on turn when trying to improve. Got clear at 200m and accelerated fast to win impressively by 1.2L when well backed late. Overall race figure was solid but she had a powerful L400m figure for the meeting. Nice filly in a great stable with suitable map and M Zahra is a key riding change.

R7 n4 ANOTHER WIL Forward inside to be on leaders back. 2nd up off 21 days and out to 1600m (+200m). Strong 1000m jump out at Cranbourne Feb 24. Last start Caulfield Group 1 resumed off 84 days and two jump outs. Sat 4th early on a slow tempo (suited EPC) and was too strong late for Mr Brightside winning by 0.4L with a 5L gap back to 3rd. Overall rating from race was best of meeting which is hard to do off a slow tempo. He had race dominant close and 11th fastest L200m of meeting. Quality horse and gets same set up again today.

R8 n1 TREASURETHE MOMENT Positive early to be on speed. 21d up off 14 days out to 1600m (+200m). Last start Caulfield Group 2 resumed off 107-day spell went forward early to sit 2nd outside (windy day) on an even tempo and was always looking like the winner from there taking over in straight winning easily by 1L when smashed late in betting. Overall race figure was strong and she closed off ok for the day. Very easy win there and will repeat again today.

It was an excellent run and a good indicator of his true ability. T Clark has first ride today with blinkers on. Keen he wins.

R4 n5 WODETON Maps 3P back outside and suited from there. 3rd race start off 14 days out to 1200m (+100m). Last start Group 2 Rosehill at 2nd race start off 28 days drew outside went back 7th early and then was allowed to stride up 4 wide no cover on an even tempo. Kept coming to the line running 3rd beaten 2.5L by Beiwacht when heavily backed. Overall race figure was quality for 2YO class and he had zero favours. Debut win was outstanding with elite closing speed on a S7 track. Lot better set up today and J Mac is back aboard.

R7 n1 BROADSIDING Forward on map early to be in 1/1. 2nd up off 14 days out to 1600m (+200m). Last start Group 2 Rosehill resumed off 105 days and went forward to 4th early in 1/1 on an even tempo and never ever looked like losing from there winning by 0.9L. Overall race figure was strong, and he closed off powerfully off that tempo. Great return and L600m figure was excellent for the meeting. Proven at 1600m and unbeaten on wet tracks. Quality colt who will continue on his winning way here.

Last start Group 1 Caulfield was caught wide early on a slow tempo and was under pressure early in straight but was brave to the line beaten 1.8L by Mr Brightside. The overall race figure was excellent. That is clearly the best form reference for a race like this and stable have proven they can win big races in NZ recently with Here To Shock. Proven out to 1600m and handles all track conditions. Keen he runs over these late and wins.

Last start here BM78 S6 track sat 4th inside on a tempo and not much room in straight when badly checked at 200m running 5th beaten 3.3L by Northern Decree when well backed. Finishing margin was unfair there. Overall figure from race was solid. Consistent mare maps well and claim is very important today in an even field.

R9 n11 TERMAGANT Forward inside early to be behind leaders. 4th up off 21 days drops 3kg and out to 1200m (+100m). Last start Class 3 Doomben up 4kg out to 1110m (+110m) sat 5th early on an even tempo and had clear run home but put them to the sword winning by 2.3L when well backed. Overall race figure was solid, and she closed off powerfully late with 10th fastest L200m of meeting. She beat rubbish here but was a class above them. Start prior BM80 Sun Coast 54kg closed off in dominant figures after being held up badly in straight. Should have won there for sure. Racing well.

R10 n4 CUNNAMULLA FELLA Forward inside early to be behind leaders. 5th up off 14 days and stays at 1600m. Last start BM85 Eagle Farm S6 4th up drew outside went back to last 12L off leader on a slow tempo (unsuited) and had way too much to do from there late. Ran home strongly late for 2nd beaten 0.9L by Tenzing who had a perfect run and ride. Overall rating from race was solid off that tempo and his L400m was strong. Maps a lot better today from this draw, ready to win.

R7 n6 BOONAH FLASHER Resumed with a fast-finishing 3rd over this course and distance last start (the 2rd horse has won since). Stella Boo looks the only danger, she looks fast but doesn’t finish off her races, so hoping we can run over the top of her late to win at good value.

MORPHETTVILLE BEST BETS

R7 n7 THE SHOWVINIST Last start Moonee Valley sat back wide 4L off leader on an even tempo and ran home strongly late against a pattern favouring horses inside and on speed. His L400m figure was best of the meeting, maps back inside behind a fast tempo and looks well suited to run over the top of these late to win.

R8 n9 PORTER Last start went too fast in front Flemington on a S7 track (lot better on dry) and had to weaken late when 8th to Is It Me beaten 5.1L in an extremely high rating race. Run prior led and controlled on a very fast tempo winning in strong figures. Inside map here looks ideal with 53kg, down in class and keen he wins.

Last start Class 4 Doomben drew outside sat 5th but was 3 wide and no cover on a fast tempo (that’s tough to do) and was really brave late beaten narrowly by Volcanic Love. He wins that race clearly with a more economical run.

She really finished hard late and should have finished closer with a powerful L400m figure. Very well weighted back to this class today.

R3 n5 EMPHASIZE Map suits behind the leaders. 4th race start off 14 days rises 2.5kg back to 1800m (-200m). Last start at 3rd race start off 30 days out to 2000m and was up in class from maiden win. He sat 8th early on a very fast tempo and took off early there and won narrowly but impressively by 0.4L. Overall figure was excellent -it was a quality win off what wasn’t a great set up for him. Maiden win prior off a slow tempo was equally impressive. Emerging young stayer and is a winner.

R4 n2 TROPICUS Forward inside from draw to be behind the speed. 2nd up off 28 days (very good jump out in blinkers since) and stays at 1200. Last start resumed off 105 days with tongue tie on Group 3 Sandown drew outside in small field went forward to 3rd early on a slow tempo running 2nd to Royal Insignia beaten 0.5L. He was good through the line there after having his chance to win. Overall race figure was good and he closed off with 6th fastest L200m of meeting. Blinkers on today is a key gear change with M Zahra back aboard and map suits ideally.

R7 n1 MR BRIGHTSIDE Positive early on map to be on speed. Last start Caulfield Group 1 resumed off 91-day spell drew wider and was ridden forward to sit 2nd on a slow tempo (winner Another Wil was 4th 1/1 on his back) and took over in straight but was run down late for 2nd beaten 0.4L when heavily backed. Overall race figure was best of meeting which is hard to do off that tempo and his closing speed was excellent given he was on speed. His 2d up form at 1400m is elite.

His last 400m figure was excellent in a high rating race. 1400m resuming suits today and did run 3rd in the highest rating Cox Plate we have seen in years last prep. Class colt.

His closing speed off that tempo was high quality. Really progressive young stayer well suited out to 2000m and this big track should suit him ideally off this map. Keen he wins again.

R3 n3 FANCIFY Leads and controls on map. 2d up off 14 days and well suited out to 1400m (+200m). Last start resumed off short 83 day break Group 3 Sandown led on an even tempo and kicked hard in straight before running 2nd to She’s Bulletproof who was freakish late beating her. Her closing figure there off that tempo was excellent and loves Flemington 1400m. Big strong mare a lot fitter today 2nd up with leading SA jockey riding him for the first time.

He was very strong to the line there with outstanding closing figures for a young horse on debut, was well backed and margins were excellent. Looks a genuine talent.

R4 n1 YORKSHIRE Positive early on map from draw to be 4th in 1×1. 4th up off 14 days out to 1600m (+100m). Last start BM88 Rosehill out to 1500m sat 4th on a fast tempo 5L off leader and had clear run home winning easily 0.9L at $1.55. Overall race rating was best of meeting and while he did have a perfect run and ride to win, his L200m figure there off that tempo was excellent. Ready now for 1600m and claim is significant today staying in BM88 class. Looks winner again, just needs to be ridden properly early.

R5 n5 JOLIESTAR Maps back near last early on slow tempo in small field. Resumes off 105 day spell and two very impressive trials. They don’t trial much better than what she has been doing. Resumed here Group 3 last prep off 133 day spell with lugging bit on-sat back 7th early on a very slow tempo and blew the clock apart late winning by 2.9L in freakish closing figures. If she repeats that today she will be winning easily again despite the tricky slow map. Very keen she wins.

Overall race figure was good and he had a powerful L400m close there. Maps well inside and will be fitter 2nd up off a lot better map. Clear top pick today.

Resumed with positive gear changes off a 220-day spell BM70 Eagle Farm, drew outside and went back near last 10L off leader on an even tempo. He ran home powerfully late to win easily by 1.6L. Overall figure from race was rock solid and he had the fastest L200m of the meeting, it was an impressive win. Can race closer from better draw today and well suited out to 1600m.

Has got a very good overall record without having won at Group 1 level yet and loves this track and distance. He was incredible winning first up last prep here with 60.5kg and finds the perfect target Group 1 race today off a 1200m trial. Gets preferred dry track and an ideal map. The planets have aligned for him and keen he wins.

R10 n4 ARABIAN SUMMER Map suits MF and outside with a trail. 3rd up off 35 days and ran 21d to Mr Brightside in recent 100m trial Geelong. She led under a hold there and was grabbed late by him when he was put under pressure to win. Rises 2kg and stays at 1100m off last start Sun Coast S6 track drew outside sat back MF with trail 7L off leader on an even tempo and ran home between horses late in straight for 3rd to Private Harry (on speed) beaten 2.7L. Overall race figure was dominant best for meeting. That is clearly a strong form reference for today and 1100m with recent race fitness advantage is ideal, looks the winner.

Overall race figure was solid off the slow speed, and he closed off strongly. Up to Open class from BM78 but suited out to 1600m and maps well today off a faster tempo than he has had this prep so far, can go on with it.

R11 n6 ROCK ‘N’ THE JAM 3rd race start off 14 days today and well suited out to 1600m. Last start when out to 1400m he sat 4th on a very slow tempo and unleashed late in straight winning by 1.2L with a powerful L600m closing figure. Both his starts he has been strong late and taking on older but limited opposition today at 1600m is ideal. Looks a very nice young horse and confident he can round these up late and win.

Last prep was consistent in three starts winning Caulfield Heath before the break. He had perfect run and ride winning there with dominant closing figures. Has race experience over some of these today and will be very strong late off his recent jump outs.

R8 n4 CHORLTON LANE Maps back inside from draw. Deeper into prep drops 1.5kg off 28 days and ran 3rd 1000m Cranbourne jump out Jan 13 when finished off strongly under no riding in a strong heat. He was held up badly until late in race and should have won with outstanding closing figure. R5 n2 DON DIEGO DE VEGA Maps forward inside behind leaders. Resumes for the inform Neasham stable off 196 day spell and two trials. He was put under a lot of pressure late by J Mac winning his last 1200m trial Randwick Jan 14. Both runs last prep over 1800m in BM78 class on Soft tracks (first prep in Aust) were VG in quality figures. Strong stayer and now 2nd prep in Australia which is always better and the stable are going great. He gets to a dry track for first time today but should be too classy for these.

Last start Wyong when 2nd up sat back 7th early 5L off leader on an even tempo but ran home strongly to win in fast time on an unsuitable track for him. Overall rating was good and he closed off well. Start prior resuming Randwick was dominant late off a slow tempo after being held up in straight when 2nd. He has come back in great form and peaks here 3 up now out to 1400m on the bigger track.

He drew wide there on a very fast tempo (unsuited) and was way too good late, winning by 2.1L in excellent overall figures. Should get over early from draw and be behind the leaders. Racing well for new stable and can win again.

R9 n8 THE INFLICTOR Forward early on map to lead. He has been in work since October 2023 with only small breaks in between. Off 23 days here drops 1kg out to 1400m (+200m). Last start BM85 Sunshine Coast sat 3rd on an even tempo and was wide throughout running 3rd to Busting beaten 1.8L. That was a very good effort in excellent overall figures. Start prior won here 1400m again in quality overall figures off a fast tempo. This race suits.

Last start BM78 Pakenham was 2nd up and 1600-2000m sat 3d outside on a slow tempo (suited) and raced away late winning by 3L. Entitled to win there but did win easily. His closing figures were very good for the race. Best horse here down to 53kg on his way to the Adelaide Cup.

R10 n12 DREAM ALL DAY Forward inside behind leader early. 4th up off 17 days rises 2.5kg and suited out to 1800m (+200m). Last start won at Flemington (weak class race) off 25 days and 1400-1600m drew outside crossed and led for B Shinn on a very slow tempo and was strong late winning by 0.75L at $2. She was keen in front there on that tempo but was too classy late with 5th fastest L200m of meeting. Classy mare suited out to 1800m and stable are on fire.

This is not a conventional Midway set up but this stable is far from conventional. Genuine talent who won maiden on Soft 5 so wet track should be fine.

Last start BM88 Randwick was 3ª up out to 2000m drew soft and sat back 6th inside 7L off leaders on a fast tempo- he cruised past them in straight to win easily 1.2L when smashed late in betting $2.60. His closing speed there was elite for a stayer off that tempo. He is ready for tougher class race today and with 54kg looks the winner. Proven on Heavy.

Last start Listed Eagle Farm drew inside (unsuited) and sat back 7th inside 4L off led on a fast tempo. Ran into traffic issues in the straight as usual for her and was beaten 1.1L by Bubbas Bay when heavily backed late-she should have finished closer there. Back to BM88 class today and proven on heavy and J Mac will get her clear air in straight. Out to 1300m a slight query but she should have won at that distance in Listed class at Eagle Farm two runs back. Rosehill form is very good.

R4 n5 BELVEDERE BOYS Gets well back on map. 6th up off 14 days rises 3kg and out to 2200m (+100m). Last start Eagle Farm was off 28 days with 53kg sat back 8th inside 6L off leaders on a fast tempo. Finished too well in straight and won easily 1.2L when solidly backed. That race was a significant step up in class for him but he handled it with ease and overall figures from race were VG off that tempo. Lightly raced well-bred 5YO coming off a career peak figure and thriving on the +2000m distance ranges. Loves wet tracks and map suits running home out wider in straight late here.

R5 n6 MISS ROUMBINI 3ª up off 35 days drops 3.5kg and suited out to 1300m (+100m). Last start Ballarat was ridden closer in 5* on an even tempo 5L off leaders but was too strong and classy late winning narrowly but impressively and runner up there has been VG since. Closing figures were excellent for meeting. First run right handed direction but trainer has stables in Sydney now so she would have had plenty of gallops that way for this race today. Good mare peaks here and proven on soft. Maps suits running home wider in straight off this tempo.

R6 n5 SEMANA Resumes off short 91 day spell and ran 5* 800m trial at Newcastle Dec 4 where she ran on late from last under no riding. Won 1400m MM Cup at this meeting last year with 54kg when 2ª up. Finished last prep with two plain runs which is always some concern with horses resuming but she went to another level before that winning at Group 3 level and being very competitive in genuine Group 1 Mares races out to 1600m. Proven on soft tracks and 1200m today fresh off this tempo running home late out wider in straight is ideal.

Proven out to 1800m gets 2,5kg weight swing on Elphinstone for unlucky loss. Ready now and better than this class.

R6 n7 LA FRACAS Forward inside behind leaders midfield. 3ª up off 27 days out to 1600m (+200m). Last start Bendigo was slow away (2L) sat back last inside 12L off leaders on a very slow tempo (completely unsuited) ran home late for 4th beaten 2.1L by Haraldus (poor since). His closing figures there were quality- meeting best L400m. Lightly raced 4YO gelded on the up, in a race that sets up well for him today.

R8 n5 PEREILLE Wider and suited back off leaders at this tempo. 5* up off 10 days rises 1.5kg and stays at 1200m. Last start Canterbury sat back last 7L on a slow tempo (unsuited) and ran home strongly to hit front in straight before lowna Merc nailed him late from behind. He gets 2.5kg weight swing first run down the Flemington straight which will suit him from this draw, has huge closing speed and keen he wins.

Dominant closing figures from the race with 6th fastest L200m of meeting and the ride there was questioned by stewards. Nice horse and proven on Heavy track suited out to 1100m here. Can go forward or back early off this draw.

R5 n6 BONITA QUEEN Leads and controls on map. Resumes off 96 day spell and two trials. Won latest 800m trial Warwick Farm Jan 3 brilliantly. Ran 2d resuming last prep by Group filly Zeitung who had much softer run in race. Proven up to Soft 5 tracks so far and will lead and control this race. She just jumps and runs fast early and can really kick hard off those sort of tempos-well suited around this track.

R6 n2 INVADER ZIM Forward early inside to be 3rd on leaders back. 2d up off 14 days and suited out to 1300m (+100m). Last start BM78 Randwick resumed off 105 day spell sat back 4th in 1×1 position on a very slow tempo (suited). He had a clear run home from there running 2d to Disneck (won since) beaten 2.2L. Lightly raced 4YO in leading stable unbeaten 2* up (2 from 2) and proven out to 1300m. Suited back to this class today off that. Proven on Heavy and claim is very significant off a good map.

Last start Canterbury was supposed to be ridden further forward but ended up back 5th outside 5L off leaders and ran home late for 3rd beaten 3.2L by Tuileries who is very talented. He was heavily backed to beat her there. Run prior was strong to the line late at 1100m behind Gerringong (smart) resuming. C Williams rides today, and he has been crying out for 1400m with tempo. Target race by astute stable and proven on Soft.

R10 n3 COSMIC FIRE Midfield on map outside and suited from there this tempo. 3d up off 15 days rises 1kg and suited out to 1100m. Last start Gold Coast off 34 days and trial at Sun Coast he drew outside and went back very wide and 7L off the leaders on a very slow tempo (completely unsuited). Ran on hard late out wide on track with 3rd fastest L200m of meeting for 2’a beaten 3L by Arabian Summer. That run should be a great form reference for this race and he will be strong late off this fast tempo off a better map today. Loves Soft and big win only run this track on Heavy 8.

Last start Group 3 Caulfield on H8 track sat back midfield on a very fast tempo and ran home late for 3ra beaten 1.5L by New Energy. Good gap back to 4th there and figures from race were elite. Not a regular winner, his last win was in this race last year but is he better than these horses.

R9 n8 SHE’S BULLETPROOF Maps suits inside behind fast tempo. 4th up off 39 days and won jump out brilliantly at Pakenham Dec 24. Last start Caulfield Group 3 drew outside and went forward to 3rd in 1×1 position on a slow tempo and chased hard in straight running 2d to Niance (very smart) beaten 0.8L. The subsequent form behind them in that race has been very strong. Her form this preparation has been excellent and map suits, loses C Williams today but keen she wins.

Closing figures were VG. Negative riding change but she has powerful closing speed in her races and very hard to beat.

R7 n9 AMAZING EAGLE Forward on map to be 3d on leaders back and suited there. 3ra up off 35 days and ran 2nd 900m trial Rosehill Dec 23 beaten 3L. He cruised in front in trial and was throttled down late-VG trial. Drops 3.5kg and stays at 1200m off last start 3YO Doomben H10 track when he sat last on a fast tempo and went very wide on turn before charging home late for 2nd narrowly beaten. Negative riding change but is so well suited today with light weight and map looks perfect.

R9 n12 APEX Maps 4P back outside and suited there late this tempo. 4th up off 15 days drops 5.5kg back to 1100m (-100m). Last start Canterbury 3/4YO BM64 sat 4th outside 6L off leaders on a very fast tempo and rider may have gone too early on him there running 2nd to Dance To The Boom (very smart) in quality overall figures. He had 59.5kg and his closing figures were excellent when heavily backed late $2.40. Gelded this prep and is an emerging young horse.

He steps up to the 1300m 3rd up now which he has a great record at and maps to box seat from the soft draw, very hard to beat.
